Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island is my favorite place in New York. I love the tram ride to get in and out of the island, walking around the island, and just sitting on a bench and looking at the Manhattan skyline. Unlike the city, this island is peaceful and serene (except for the occasional jet ski riders who look like they’re having the time of their lives).

If you haven’t been to Roosevelt Island, I would highly recommend that you do! Dress casually, something you wouldn’t mind sitting on the rock benches, and bring a water bottle or a book. If you go during the cherry blossom season, you will see pink trees along the Manhattan skyline. If you go during sunset, you will see the sun set behind the Manhattan skyline. My favorite time to go is during sunset, where I can see the sunset and the sparkling skyline if I stay a little longer. But go whenever! It’s also beautiful during the day.

I always thought Roosevelt Island would be a great place to read, but this unfortunately hasn’t happened yet since I’m staying in FiDi. If I end up living in New York, I want to live close to this island so I can go on casual, spontaneous walks along the Manhattan skyline.
